This past Friday, CX officially welcomed specialty outdoor retailer REI and Will Gilson’s Geppetto restaurant to Cambridge Crossing! We are thrilled to announce the arrival of these two retailers, which marks another huge milestone for this transformational neighborhood.
A First-of-its-kind REI Co-op in Cambridge
The brand-new REI Cambridge store, the first of its kind urban neighborhood concept for the outdoor adventure company, offers a wide array of outdoor gear, including curated cycling and running supplies catering to the community’s passions. The store also features a bike shop, and a gathering space where you can work with staff to dream, discover, and plan outdoor adventures.
With 11 acres of open space at CX, as well as the many outdoor recreational opportunities nearby, including the Charles River and multi-modal paths connecting from Boston to the suburbs, REI is a perfect fit for the community! We are grateful to have them as part of CX and look forward to collaborating on programming in the neighborhood in the future.

Will Gilson Does it Again: Pasta & Gelato at Geppetto
Just next store in The Shed, Geppetto represents the final piece of the trio of eateries from award winning local chef Will Gilson. While the community has become familiar with The Lexington’s curated cocktails and rooftop views, and Café Beatrice’s incredible baked goods, Geppetto will introduce a modern Italian-inspired eatery to Cambridge Crossing.
Patrons can expect house made pasta and a rotating, season-inspired rotating menu. Pastry Chef Brian Mercury will oversee an array of modern interpretations of classics as well as house-made gelato. Joining Gilson and Mercury are Chef Tony Susi as Pasta Consigliere and Beverage Director David Danforth. Susi and Danforth each bring extensive culinary experience to the Geppetto team. The space offers a sophisticated yet cool atmosphere that’s fitting for a variety of occasions, overlooking the Common, a lush, five-acre green space at the heart of CX.
