November 15th is recognized as National Philanthropy Day, an annual occasion to celebrate the spirit of giving. Over the years at Cambridge Crossing, we’ve had the privilege to work with and support many amazing local non-profits who are providing essential goods and services to our children, seniors, and most vulnerable neighbors.
Of course, giving back feels a little different in 2020, with many in-person volunteering opportunities and fundraising events on hold at a time when they’re needed most. That is why on this day, we want to highlight a handful of ways that you can still give back to the local community this season:

Opportunities to Donate
- Cambridge Women’s Center
The Cambridge Women’s Center, which “provides a supportive community space for all women by offering opportunities for empowerment, learning, healing, trauma support, and understanding,” is currently accepting financial contributions and donations via its Amazon Wish List. The Wish List includes essentials, food, and winter items. - Cambridge Community Center
For nearly a century, the Cambridge Community Center (CCC) has been “a frontline resource for youth and families” in the Riverside neighborhood of Cambridge. The CCC accepts direct donations. You can also use Amazon Smile to help support the CCC while you shop online - Somerville/Cambridge Elder Services
Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) “promotes the right of all individuals to live with dignity, in the setting of their choice by offering older people, younger people with disabilities, and caregivers the information, services and support needed to make choices which enhance health, well-being and independence.” SCES is accepting donations to help fund their programming. - East End House
Neighboring CX in East Cambridge, East End House “has been a vital resource for newly immigrated and lower-income individuals and families for more than 140 years.” This year, East End House is for its annual Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway, its Adopt-A-Family Drive, COVID-19 relief funds, and more. - CASPAR
CASPAR, a non-profit founded in 1970 to help address the demand for substance abuse treatment, is accepting donations to support their mission. As the first local non-ER option for treatment, CASPAR has served as a lifeline for the community with services like FirstStep Street Outreach, emergency shelter, residential services, and Aftercare services.
