#GivingTuesday: Local Causes to Support This Holiday Season

November 30, 2021

Tis the season to give back! There are so many great local organizations providing critical services to those in need. This #GivingTuesday, we’ve rounded up a few ways you can support the community:

Opportunities to Donate:

1. CASPAR – CASPAR (Cambridge and Somerville Programs for Addiction Recovery), a community-based non-profit founded in 1970 in response to the growing community need for substance abuse treatment, is accepting donations to help care for our homeless neighbors with warm meals, hot showers, clean beds, and medical referrals. Plus, this GivingTuesday up to $25,000 in donations will be matched!

2. Food For Free – Food For Free is on a mission to improve access to fresh, healthy food by rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste and donating it to those in need in our community. Food For Free is accepting donations to help end hunger in our community.

3. East End House – For more than 140 years, the East End House has been a community center that meets community needs through innovative programs that support families and individuals of every age and ability. EEH is accepting donations for their Adopt-A-Family Drive, Toy Drive, COVID-19 relief funds, and more.

4. Cambridge Community Center – The Cambridge Community Center (CCC) is a comfortable place where neighbors come together to talk and socialize, a safe haven offering support for families raising children, and a home-away-from-home that will always welcome those in need of help. The CCC is accepting donations. Help double their impact as MIT will be matching the first $25,000 in donations on or after GivingTuesday!

5. YWCA Cambridge – The YWCA Cambridge is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. They’re accepting donations to help provide programs and other opportunities for the positive growth and development of women of all ages and families in our community
