Cambridge, MA, (December 09, 2019) – DivcoWest announced today that Lamplighter Brewing Co. will open Luminati Spirits x Lamplighter at Cambridge Crossing (CX), a neighborhood located at the intersection of Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston. This joint micro distillery, brewery, and taproom concept completes the leasing of The Shed, CX’s most distinct retail building at the heart of the project.
“With their focus on quality, innovation, craft and community, Lamplighter has created a thriving local, independent small business that aligns perfectly with our vision for CX,” said Mark Roopenian, Managing Director at DivcoWest. “The Shed is the beating heart of CX and with the addition of Lamplighter and local chef Will Gilson of Puritan & Co we believe we are creating a place with a vibe like no other in the area.
Since founding Lamplighter in 2016, Co-Founders Cayla Marvil and AC Jones, both recently named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, have stayed true to the goal of fostering community through craft beverages and creating a place to both work and play in an authentic and welcoming space. Luminati Spirits x Lamplighter will follow that mission, bringing the values of community and creativity to East Cambridge, and expanding the way that consumers can share and experience craft spirits and beer at their source.
“We’re thrilled to not only continue our development of great beer, but also to pursue our passion for craft spirits all at our home here in Cambridge,” said Lamplighter Brewing Co. CoFounder AC Jones.” We’re also incredibly excited that Cambridge Crossing provides us with expanded space for events, entertainment, and community engagement, while continuing to emphasize a fun, creative, and neighborhood-based taproom setting.”
Designed by local architect Prellwitz Chilinski Associates (PCA), The Shed is a two-story standalone retail building located in the center of Cambridge Crossing and is surrounded by public open spaces including parks, a waterway with granite blocks for seating (repurposed from the 150-year old seawall excavated at the site), a picnic grove with grills, and outdoor games like bocce ball.
“DivcoWest is creating a new neighborhood in East Cambridge that we believe must be anchored by best in class local retail and restaurants,” said David Downing, VP and Managing Director of Leasing at Graffito SP, the retail leasing broker on the deal. “Lamplighter’s concept is the perfect fit for the neighborhood and the Shed is such an exciting physical space. We look forward to seeing CX come alive.”
Luminati Spirits x Lamplighter will open in 2020, with more details to be shared in the coming months.
With the addition of Lamplighter, approximately 1.3 million square-feet of commercial space is now fully leased at CX. A fourth building is now under construction, a 480,000 square-foot science and technology building at 250 Water Street. Once complete, the community will provide a one-of-a-kind place for neighbors, residents, and employees connected to two MBTA stops and surrounded by an eclectic food scene, neighborhood retail, and over 2500 residences in a range of apartment and condominium buildings. Lamplighter was represented in this transaction by Dave Downing and Jesse Baerkahn, both of Graffito.
