Black History Month: Honoring Those Making a Difference in Our Community Cambridge Crossing

Cambridge Crossing has always strived to provide an inclusive environment that has something for everyone to enjoy. We’re fortunate to be part of the East Cambridge community, home to many diverse organizations that share a similar vision. As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, we’d like to highlight some of the fantastic groups we’ve been fortunate enough to work with here in Cambridge that amplify the power of their communities to build inspiring and thriving spaces for all:
  • My Brother’s Keeper Cambridge an organization with 100 years of volunteer experience in the City of Cambridge. My Brother’s Keeper is committed to disrupting and eradicating the chronic social, mental, economic, and educational barriers for youth, young adults, and parents.
  • Cambridge Bike Give Back was established by three friends, Lonnell Wells, Jesse Castillo, and Sean West, following the death of George Floyd. The group aims to help those without a car or money for public transportation get around the city.
  • The Cambridge Black History Project is an all-volunteer organization of individuals with deep roots in Cambridge, committed to research, accurately documenting, preserving, and illuminating the journeys, accomplishments, and challenges of Black trailblazers and to raise awareness of their stories through educational outreach to the Cambridge community and beyond.
  • Many Helping Hands 365 honors the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by raising awareness of the year-round needs of Cambridge neighbors through community service, special events, and civic engagement, as well as organizing a wide range of racial justice resources.
  • Equity Roadmap is a team of compassionate and dedicated individuals who provide youth and families with opportunities throughout the community to diminish the opportunity gap.
